Donated Goods Guidelines:
We gratefully accept donations of sewing machines, overlockers and other essential equipment in working condition. However, as our volunteer team is focused on maintaining the space and sharing skills with the community, we have limited capacity to repair machines or sort through fabric donations.
To ensure we can make the best use of what we receive, we ask that all donations respect the guidelines below.
Fabrics: We are currently only accepting metreage of natural fibre fabrics. This is because these are easiest for beginners to learn on, and you need to learn basic sewing skills before you can upcycle your own garments and get super creative. Thanks to the generosity of the Armidale community we have plenty of other types of fabric. If this changes, we will let the community know via our newsletter and social media. We don’t accept clothing or bed linen, although we encourage people to use these to make their own items.
Machines: Please only donate machines that are less than 20 years old, in working condition and of good quality. If you’ve got something that fits this description that you’d like to donate, please let us know here.
Sewing Essentials: Who doesn’t need a pair of sharp sewing scissors or some sewing machine bobbins? If you have some to spare we’d love them! Again, please only get in touch if you have good quality equipment to spare.
