What’s On
Drop In
We are open for drop-in visits every Thursday morning 10am to 12 noon, and Friday from 10am to 3pm.
On Saturday we have classes, bookings are essential for these.
Thread Shed is staffed by our wonderful volunteers who are there to welcome you, show you our facilities and offer helpful sewing advice.
You're welcome to drop in and see what we're doing on Thursday mornings or on Fridays, or look at the Schedule below to find an activity you're interested in.
We have Stitch Socials, Sewing Classes, Workshops and Special Events too, check out the below Schedule for upcoming activities.
Our sewing machines are available for community use. We request a $5 donation per two hours, to cover servicing costs. This is a great way to try out sewing without having to buy your own machine.
Stitch Social (every Thursday 10am to noon and Friday 10am to 3pm)
Stitch Socials are relaxed and friendly weekly gatherings where you can bring along your own sewing project and enjoy a couple of creative hours in good company. Held each Thursday morning 10am to 12 noon and Friday from 10am to 3pm*, it’s the perfect chance to make progress on your work, share ideas, and connect with others. For all stages, beginner to advanced. Remember it’s about the journey not the destination!
*not including public holidays
Beginner sewing 103 Zipped cushion cover
A bit nervous about using zips in your sewing? Start out with making a cushion - it's low risk and the insertion is simple. Either bring your own fabric the size that you need (measure your cushion insert, and include enough for seams and both front and back) or we can provide you with clean donated fabric. We'll also provide thread and the zip.
Thread Shed Armidale is a community organisation designed to share skills and create a space where you can meet new people and make friends while learning something fun!
